FitMacros Privacy Policy

FitMacros (“we,” “us,” or “our”) helps you track meals and estimated nutrition using text or photos. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. By using FitMacros, you agree to this Policy.

If you disagree with this Policy, please do not use the app.

1) Summary (Plain English)

You can log meals via text or photo. If you upload a photo, it is stored in Firebase Storage, and a secure URL is sent to OpenAI’s API to analyze and estimate nutrition. We use RevenueCat and the App Store for subscriptions. We do not sell your data or share it for targeted advertising. AI estimates can be wrong. FitMacros does not provide medical advice.

2) Personal Data We Collect

• Account Information: Email, user ID (via Firebase Authentication).
• Meal Data: Text descriptions, meal photos, AI-generated nutrition estimates, favorite meals, daily progress and goals.
• Photos/Images: Meal photos you upload.
• Subscription & Purchase Data: Product identifiers, purchase status, receipts via RevenueCat and App Store.
• Device & Usage Data: App version, device type, language, crash/diagnostic logs.
• Communications: Messages you send to support.

Sensitive/Health Information: Meal logs and nutrition estimates may reveal dietary habits. We process this only to provide the service you request. By uploading a meal or photo, you give explicit consent.

3) How We Use Your Data

• Save meals, calculate estimated nutrition, and show progress/history.
• Run AI analysis (via Firebase + OpenAI).
• Manage subscriptions via RevenueCat & App Store.
• Debug issues, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
• Send essential communications.
• Comply with legal obligations.

AI Accuracy Notice: AI analysis may produce inaccurate or incomplete nutrition estimates. Results are informational only and not medical advice.

4) Legal Bases (GDPR/EEA/UK)

• Contract: To provide the app and its features.
• Consent: For health-related data (meal logs/photos). Consent can be withdrawn by deleting meals or your account.
• Legitimate Interests: Security, fraud prevention, app improvement.
• Legal Obligation: Compliance with tax, accounting, and legal rules.

5) Sharing and Disclosure

We only share data with trusted service providers:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, Firestore, and Storage.
• OpenAI: Receives only secure photo URLs to analyze meals. We do not allow OpenAI to use your data for training their AI models.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions and entitlements.
• Apple App Store: Handles billing and subscription status.
• Analytics/Crash Tools: App stability and debugging (if used).
• Professional Advisors/Legal: If necessary for compliance or dispute resolution.

We do not sell your data or use it for cross-app advertising.

6) Data Retention

• Meals & Photos – until you delete them or delete your account.
• Accounts – until you request deletion.
• Purchases – as required by financial regulations.
• Diagnostics – for a reasonable time to improve reliability.

7) Your Rights

You may have the right to:

• Access and correct your data.
• Delete meals individually or request deletion of your account.
• Withdraw consent (by deleting data or your account).
• Data portability, restriction, and objection (under GDPR).
• CCPA/CPRA (California) rights: request access, correction, deletion.

📩 To exercise these rights, email fitmacors@gmail.com. Until in-app deletion is available, you can request account deletion by email. We will confirm your request and delete your account and associated data.

8) Children’s Privacy

FitMacros is not for children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect children’s data. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us to remove the data.

9) Security

We use safeguards such as TLS/HTTPS in transit and Firebase encryption at rest. However, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for protecting your device and credentials.

10) International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our providers operate. We rely on lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.

11) Not Medical Advice

FitMacros provides informational estimates only. The app does not provide medical, nutritional, or health advice. Always consult a qualified professional.

12) Changes

We may update this Policy. If so, we’ll update the “Effective date” and notify you in-app when appropriate.

13) Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

We do not track you across other apps or websites.
